In order to seek the support of the government to pursue the good work, members of the National Urdu Institute made a request to the authorities

concerned in February 2002 to establish an Urdu Speaking Union which was duly granted. Hence the USU Act of Parliament came into force on the 26th of

November 2002 after the approval of the President of the Republic on the 10th of December 2002.
