In the context of the 150th Death Anniversary of Mirza Ghalib, famous Urdu poet of India, a two-day conference was organised from Friday 22nd November 2019 to Saturday 23rd November 2019 in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and High Commission of India at the World Hindi Secretariat, Phoenix. Three scholars from India namely, Prof Khwaja Mohd Ekramuddin, Prof Ali Ahmad Fatmi and Prof Anwar Pasha were invited on the occasion. The opening ceremony was held on Friday 22nd November 2019 at 15hr00 followed by a Mehfil-e-Ghazal by the local Ghazal Singer Mr Bilal Lalmahomed. The Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Hon. Avinash Teeluck, The High Commissioner of India and other eminent personalities were present and addressed the gathering. The academic sessions were held on Saturday 23rd November 2019 as from 10hr00 at the same venue. Six papers were presented by the foreign as well as local Urdu Scholars on the occasion followed by the closing ceremony as from 15hr30.
