Various Urdu competitions such as Poem Recitation, Essay Writing, Dictation, Quiz Competition and Bait Bazi at both Primary and Secondary level were organised jointly by the Urdu Speaking Union and National Urdu Institute at the national level from 23rd April to 5th May 2008 which involved 800-900 participants altogether.
