Naatkhwaan Hafiz Qari Mohamed Riyajuddin, sponsored by the government of India, a tradition established for the last 30 years, was our chief guest this year. In all,12 programs were scheduled across the island. The official Celebrations was held on 21st March 2008 at Aleemiah College in the presence of H.E. Maulana Muhammad Shah Anas Noorani Siddiqui, the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Dr. Navin Chandra Ramgoolam, Minister of Arts and Culture Hon Mahendra Gowressoo, Minister of Education and Human Resources Hon Dharam Gokhool, Former Vice President of the Republic Mr Abdool Raouf Bundhun, and other distinguished personalities.
